How about some motivation to get you started.

One of the greatest problems that some people have in life is getting something going, getting something in their life started, or changing direction (which is the same thing as getting started because you are starting something new). The most common fear has to be the fear of failure. Some would also argue (with the idea of being an actor or performer such as a singer) there is the fear of success. Either way, there is that little self destructive person inside us all that wants to be negative and pull us down. The little person inside will say, "You can't do that!"

What we must do to overcome this is to say to ourselves each time we hear this voice, "Yes I can." You can also try to say, "Go away". As odd as this may seem it will work. It is kind of a meditation technique. Each time a thought you do not want comes to you, you actually tell it to go away. Overcoming this voice is easy. But you have to tell yourself it is easy. Which brings us to the next point.

Many things in life are easy if we tell ourselves it is easy. Obviously trying to run and flap your arms up and down to try to fly in the air will not be easy. But running for office, trying to get your band on the radio and get lots of CD's or MP3's sold, or trying to get a great business idea out there and be a success ... yes... this can be easy.

The first thing you have to do is get started. "OK," you ask... "how?" Well, it might seem silly but you just start. Let's say you have an idea for a business. Well, get a website started immediately. You can go right here to get that started. If you start a website AND put this website on a business card and start showing it to people, this will force you to take it to the next level. But the most important thing you HAVE TO REMEMBER is that forcing yourself to take that first step will automatically get things rolling. In physics there is something called Newton's Law which states that an object in motion tens to stay in motion. So imagine you are an object. If you stay put and never try to get started on your plan, idea, or project ... then you are stuck. You are going no where. But if you start, then you are an object in motion and you will tend to stay in motion. THIS is what you want.

So get a website started. Yes, even if you are not organized with your plans and ideas. Why? Because you can always change the website and the website will help you get organized better. Once you have your website, you need to remember two things; yes you can do this and you MUST do something each day towards your goal.

Speaking of doing something each day towards your goal.... it is of major importance that you actually stay to this rule. If you let a day slip by then there is a strong possibility that another day will pass by without any work towards your goal. Then the next thing you know a week goes by and you become an object that is not in motion but something that is motionless. How many people do we know that say, "Yeah, I wanted to do that when I was young." That's right. Their whole life has slipped by without even trying to do what they really wanted to do. Don't become this person.

There are some websites and people who say that if you try to learn a language, you can do it trying it for five minutes a day. Sounds crazy right? But there is something really important in that line of thinking. It is the fact that you are doing something each day for five minutes. I teach music and tell my students that if a day is about to go by (it is night time) and you are about to go to sleep, it's important that you practice for at least 5-10 minutes. Now that sounds ridiculous but you are adding up. You are producing. You are moving. You are getting closer to your goal. No matter how small a task or time that you spend on something, it is just important that you ARE spending time on your goal. So remember, each day try to do something no matter how small the task at hand.

And remember that YES you can do it. Getting started is easy if you believe it is easy. And please, do not waste any time... get that website started immediately so you have something to start with.
